JUBILEE 2025: PILGRIMS OF HOPE

The Jubilee Prayer

Father in heaven, may the faith you have given us in your son, Jesus Christ, our brother, and the flame of charity enkindled

in our hearts by the Holy Spirit, reawaken in us the blessed hope for the coming of your Kingdom. 

May your grace transform us into tireless cultivators of the seeds of the Gospel.

May those seeds transform from within both humanity and the whole cosmos in the sure expectation of a new heaven and a new earth,

when, with the powers of Evil vanquished, your glory will shine eternally. 

May the grace of the Jubilee reawaken in us, Pilgrims of Hope, a yearning for the treasures of heaven.

May that same grace spread the joy and peace of our Redeemer throughout the earth.

To you, our God, eternally blessed, be glory and praise forever.

Pilgrimage sites

There will not be a holy door outside of Rome. Therefore, in addition to the Cathedral, six other locations have been designated by Bishop Senior as pilgrimage sites where the plenary indulgence can be obtained: 

  • Cathedral of Saint Patrick (Harrisburg)

  • Basilica of the Sacred Heart (Conewago)

  • Basilica of Saints Cyril and Methodius (Danville)

  • Shrine of the Miraculous Medal at Saint Catherine Laboure (Harrisburg)

  • Historic Saint Mary's (Lancaster)

  • Corpus Christi Church (Chambersburg)

  • Our Lady of Hope (Coal Township)

Parish groups and individual parishioners are encouraged to make pilgrimages to these sites and the other sites throughout the nation and world during this time of Jubilee. A comprehensive list of sites will be found in the Jubilee Passport. Arrangements for diocesan pilgrimage sites can be made directly with each church, particularly if you are planning on bringing a large group of pilgrims. 

JUBILEE PASSPORTS and PLENARY INDULGENCE

To assist our pilgrims, a supply of "Jubilee Passports" have been devised are being printed and will be available for purchase (they will also be available for downloading). They contain information about the various ways to obtain the plenary indulgence throughout this Jubilee Year. The indulgence may be obtained every day of the Jubilee and, under the prescribed conditions, even twice in a day for the deceased. Information will be sent out regarding the conditions of the indulgence.

SPECIAL RESOURCES FOR THE JUBILEE

We will soon post the Jubilee Hymn, the Jubilee Prayer, information about the Jubilee, and special texts that may be used on ferial days without proper euchologies during the Jubilee Year. These Mass texts may not replace the proper Christmas texts or those required for feasts and solemnities. The Jubilee Logo was refined to a white logo that can be imprinted on a background of a darker color.
