Dear Friends,

Welcome to Saint Patrick Parish. We are proud of our history which has its beginning on February 5, 1779. A time when our nation was newly born from the desire for freedom, including the freedom to worship. Three years after the Declaration of Independence and while George Washington still commanded the Continental Forces, Saint Patrick Church began a journey that we have inherited and that we treasure.

This is a historic parish that hosted on numerous occasions two American Saints. Saints John Neumann and Katharine Drexel visited our parish and ministered to the Catholic community here in Carlisle, Pennsylvania on numerous occasions. Saint Katharine Drexel built the present day rectory that at the turn of the century served as a convent and school served by the Sisters of the Blessed Sacrament until 1918.

Today we are a community of over 2,500 Roman Catholic households. We are a parish that has two worship sites: one downtown and another on the outskirts of Carlisle. In 1971 we outgrew our church on East Pomfret Street and built a new church on Marsh Drive so as to accommodate the growing number of parishioners. Our Blue ribbon parish school is also situated at the Marsh Drive location.

Our Parish Activity Center is home to our Life Teen Ministry, Adult Religious Education, Scouting, Athletics, Heritage Club and a multitude of other ministries and activities that flow from our parish mission to serve. We are also proud of our recently constructed running track and playing field at the Marsh Drive location which are sources excitement, community and activity for parishioners of all ages.

It is my earnest hope and prayer that you will find a parish that is alive and vibrant in faith as we celebrate Holy Eucharist and are nourished at our Chapel of Perpetual Adoration. Everyone will find opportunities through which they can contribute their gifts and have their faith deepened.

May you and your loved ones feel welcome and at home at Saint Patrick Parish.

Sincerely in Christ,

Very Reverend William C. Forrey, VF
Pastor
